Building Dynamic Actions in Oracle Application Express 4.1

  • In APEX, Dynamic Actions provide developers with a way to define client-side behavior declaratively without the need to know JavaScript. Using a simple wizard, developers can select a page item, a condition, enter a value, and select an action (for example, Show, Hide, Enable, and Disable). Previously, this involved hand crafting JavaScript and AJAX but now many Dynamic Actions require zero coding using the built-in wizards.

Great examples of dynamic actions in (dare I say) action.

The fact that dynamic actions can be built without writing Javascript enables application developers to produce very professional looking applications without a lot of work.

I'm impressed!

I've been asking on how to perform dynamic actions on the items in the discussion forum, but everyone suggested to do it using javascript which I don't know how to do it. And I do know that Apex has the ability to perform almost all kinds of features seamlessly. And afte I find this particular OBE, I learned how to perform my required actions(enable/disable/hide) on the items dynamically.
