Welcome to the Open APEX Application Development project. The main focus of this project is to facilitate the development of open web applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX), and to create a repository of APEX applications that users can collaborate on and share.

If you need a free database to get you started developing with APEX, download Oracle Database Express Edition (XE). XE includes APEX version 2.1.

About APEX
Oracle Application Express (APEX) is a browser-based web application development tool that runs on top of the Oracle Database. With APEX, users can develop robust web applications and export them to share with others. Free accounts for Application Express are available at apex.oracle.com and more information on the development platform can be found here.

About XE
Oracle Database Express Edition (XE) is an entry-level, small-footprint database based on the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 code base that's free to develop, deploy, and distribute; fast to download; and simple to administer. You can get more information and download XE here.
